PlasmaBlade could have a big impact on the future of medical technology. This is our first story for oomph! Science webisodes and we plan to produce many more." Says David Dowll, Executive Producer and Co-Founder of oomph! Unlimited LLC

los Angeles, ca, United States of America (PRBD.net) 3/8/2010 12:00:00 AM - oomph! Unlimited LLC premieres an original science and technology webisode revealing the “surgical tool of the future” – the PlasmaBlade -- which uses pulses of plasma generated around its tip to locally cut and cauterize flesh.

The original webisode features Dr. Deanna Attai, a board certified surgeon and highly regarded women’s health expert and advocate. She is one of the few surgeons in Southern California utilizing the PlasmaBlade.

The PlasmaBlade represents a quantum leap in technology, improving the control, bleeding and recovery time of the patient. The PlasmaBlade needle cuts tissue with significantly reduced tissue injury compared to traditional electrosurgery and significantly less bleeding time than that produced by a standard scalpel. This translates into improved surgical incision wound healing. Peak Surgical, the medical device company that developed the Peak Surgery System, believes the technology may have applications in more than two million surgical procedures each year.

The webisode featured on
www.oomphtv.com is the first science and medical technology story unveiled on the new site, which focuses on the medical, health and wellness industry. oomph! Science stories are three-dimensional segments which highlight advances in science and medical technology and delivers them to an audience interested in their own health and aging. As part of the overarching goals of the site, www.oomphtv.com aims to link an engaged audience with applicable medical breakthroughs. The webisode was Executive Produced by David Dowell and Tammy O’Connor, co-founders of www.oomphtv.com
