Leif Gregersen, a published poet, short story, magazine, and newspaper writer has launched his first ebook called, "Through The Withering Storm" which reveals his own struggles against the ravages of bipolar disorder. Leif Gregersen wants to inspire other bipolar sufferers to keep fighting the battle without admitting defeat through this ebook.
Dr. Brian P. Bishop, an expert Psychiatrist who treated Leif Gregersen's mental illness has written the foreword for Leif's ebook "Through The Withering Storm" and has thanked Leif Gregersen for bravely sharing his own personal experience to remove taboos and ignorance about mental illness.
"a major affective disorder will afflict around 5.7 million adult Americans every year", according to The National Institute of Mental Health
"Most of the bipolar sufferers get an accurate diagnosis only after coping with the bipolar symptoms for up to ten years", according to a survey report. In addition, many bipolar sufferers are unable to fight back due to negative outlook and ignorance about the disorder.
Leif Gregersen wants to help get rid of the negative outlook of the bipolar sufferers regarding their mental illness and wants them to fight back against the disorder to achieve victory as he has experienced it.
"Through The Withering Storm" ebook's initial chapters expose his happy young life that was filled with dreams of taking on the world and winning. As a child, for Leif summer meant trips to the cool and beautiful mountains and the hot and fascinating Badlands of the Drumheller Valley where his favorite uncle lived and trips to Europe and California.
When he joined Air Cadets, he started to realize the seriousness of life and he was even able to make a few friends. In spite of his frequent fights at basic training, Leif still brought home the honor of having the highest mark of any other cadet on his final exam.
Sadly, after a few years bipolar disorder began to disturb his personal life. Initially, he tried out to find the cause of his unknown behaviors but in vain. One day, he became severely ill and was admitted in the hospital. After using new drugs and treatments on regular basis and due to his caring parents, he started to show signs of improvement from bipolar disorder.
Through his ebook, Leif wants to create awareness about bipolar disorder and how care plays an important role in bring back bipolar sufferers back to a happy and useful life.
