New York, NY, United States of America (PRBD.net) 9/28/2009 12:00:00 AM - Apl.de.Ap one of the original members of the Black Eyed Peas join Drs. Gloria & Heidi Horsley on their nationally syndicated talk radio program “The Open to Hope Show” Sept. 28th, 2009 at 9 AM PST/12 Noon EST.

Apl’s story of growing up in poverty in the Philippines, being adopted at the age of 14 years old through the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, and going on to form the Black Eyed Peas, a musical group that has become a global phenomenon is inspiring. Apl has used his fame to impact thousands of people through his music, the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, and by giving back to impoverished communities in the Philippines,” said Dr. Heidi Horsley, Co-Host of Healing the Grieving Heart.

The Black Eyed Peas have transcended their vigilant hip-hop roots and have become a global phenomenon, the likes of which the music world has rarely seen. Apl.de.Ap’s life took a tragic turn when his brother Arnel died by suicide. This was a heartbreaking event and Apl.de.Ap explains his life story in a song called “The Apl Song” found on the peas 2003 album Elephunk, and heard on this show. They have sold 7.5 million albums worldwide, won 3 grammy awards and had 7 grammy nominations. Apl.de.ap has recently gone on to write the song “I Cry” as a tribute to his younger brother Arnel, which was heard for the first time on Healing the Grieving Heart. To hear this song debuted, go to: www.opentohope.com and click on the Apl.de.ap e-card.

Apl’s life's work—supporting a program of the Pearl S. Buck Foundation for Amerasians is fueled by the conviction that, everyone deserves to have a chance in life and opportunities to succeed. Apl is an example that everyone can rise above adversity and give back to their communities.

“We’re excited to bring Apl’s story and mission of hope to our audience,” this was a very powerful show and one not to be missed, commented Dr. Gloria Horsley, Host of ‘Healing the Grieving Heart” and Founder and President of The Open to Hope Foundation, sponsor of “Healing the Grieving Heart” and The Grief Blog.

The Open to Hope Show broadcasts every Monday at 11 am Pacific Standard Time and 2 pm Eastern Time on CBS Radio – Chat About It.
