The Financial Services Authority (FSA) is considering fining banks and financial institutions over the way they handle customer complaints about inadequate or mis-sold financial products.
Some banks are being hit by a record 7,000 complaints daily to banks, many of them over payment protection insurance (PPI) mis-selling. The FSA is concerned that banks often try ‘fobbing off’ consumers by not fully investigating the claims or by sending out standard rejection letters.
