"It’s easy to get duped by car mechanics who may inflate the estimated cost of the repair. Calgary mechanics, tell us what to look out for, before you hire a car mechanic."

A woman and her 24 year old son in Albany, N.Y, were recently taken into custody for duping an 89 year old woman. The mother son duo reportedly poured a liquid drink inside the lady’s car and told her that it was a leak from the engine which would cost her $1,400. A number of people especially the elderly are targeted by fraudsters looking to make easy money.

“Repairing a car, needs a certain degree of specialization. A number of Calgary mechanics look at earning easy money by duping people and inflating the estimated costs” says Mr.Mike Johnson, of calgarymechanics.net.

If your car repair is taking ages, with no signs of the car mechanic completing the task, chances are that you’ve either landed with a Calgary auto repair guy, who’s inexperienced or is lazy. Before you hand over your car for repairs, make sure you can get an estimation of the time for the repair. An efficient Car mechanic in Calgary would be forthright if there is a possibility of a delay. Also he would take time and effort to explain you about the reasons for the delay. Also make it a point to enquire about the experience of the mechanic. You wouldn’t want to hand over your car to a high school student looking to earn extra money through a summer job says, Mr.Mike Johnson.

There are some mechanics whose charges would depend on your knowledge about cars. A car mechanic isn’t the right person to confess that you don’t know too much about cars. You can always take along a friend who is knowledgeable about cars. If you’ve been duped or suspect that the mechanic is over charging you, contact the Better Business Bureau.

Before you hand over your car, get multiple estimates of the repair. Also check if the mechanic is a member of a certain association related to car mechanics. This ensures that the mechanic would follow norms imposed by the association.
