World Diabetes Day: Largest Human Blue Ring to enter Guinness Book of World Records

LCHC is attempting to form the LARGEST HUMAN BLUE RING of 7000+ (all wearing Blue T-shirts & Blue Caps) people who include adults and children with diabetes, school students, doctors, teachers, people from social organizations and other citizens. This will be the largest ever human ring to be formed to spread awareness on diabetes.

The organizers (Dr. Sanjeev Bagai, Dr. S.K. Wangnoo, Mr. Swadeep Srivastava, Ms. Rashi Singhal & Ms. Misha Dange) of “Lifebuoy Child Health Congress (LCHC) 2010 and Diabetes Blue Fortnight (DBF)” request for open support from all in forming the LARGEST EVER HUMAN BLUE RING on World Diabetes Day, Nov 14, 2010 for spreading awareness on diabetes.

We have learnt that the largest number of people to have formed a 'human chain for health awareness' on record is 3640 people. This record set in the end of October'10 is listed in the Guinness book stands in the name of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for the formation of a HUMAN RED RIBBON to promote awareness on BREAST CANCER. Another record listed in the Limca book mentions that around 6000 people formed the Indian Map in Tamil Nadu in 2010.

LCHC is attempting to form the LARGEST HUMAN BLUE RING of 7000+ (all wearing Blue T-shirts & Blue Caps) people who include adults and children with diabetes, school students, doctors, teachers, people from social organizations and other citizens. This will be the largest ever human ring to be formed to spread awareness on diabetes. To this effect a request for its inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records has already been placed. With this Human Ring of 7000+ people, we are in a position to set a new world record and create history. We believe that this record breaking human ring will draw world’s attention towards India’s efforts for raising awareness on diabetes.

Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad is expected to grace this occasion and we have been assured full support and cooperation from DM District Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida & Greater Noida) and CEO of Greater Noida authority to make this a successful and memorable feat for all of us.

The Human Blue Ring formed by 7000+ people will be preceded by “Global Diabetes Walkathon” (starting at 7.30 AM at NOIDA-GREATER NOIDA border on Expressway) and will conclude with the inauguration of Lifebuoy Child Health Congress, 2010. The event is being organized by HEAL & Vision Mission Foundation in association with Project HOPE, International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and other medical bodies, institutes and schools. The Human Blue Ring will be formed at the venue of Lifebuoy Child Health Congress, 2010 on the grounds of India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida at 8.30 AM to 9.15 AM.

Setting a world record is expected to train the spotlight firmly on diabetes and to motivate Indians to take measures to counter the menace of diabetes effectively and live a healthy life with or without it!

We wish to seek everyone’s support & cooperation for this ATTEMPT TO CREATE A WORLD RECORD and bring DIABETES AWARENESS, PREVENTION & CONTROL in GLOBAL LIMELIGHT. We implore you to step forward and lend support to the cause of making India the world’s “Diabetes Awareness Capital” and lend a decisive edge to efforts aimed at blunting the thrusts of the impending epidemic of diabetes.
