The mosque has an arched entrance made of stone and has a narrow enclosed marketplace which sells sarongs, pecis, perfumes and other religious goods. Mesjid Ampel is the most sacred mosque in Surabay. Pilgrims are found chanting and making rose petal offerings. It is a must-visit location when in Surabaya.
