Magma Names Maggie Chen to Head Taiwan Operations

Chen Brings 10 years EDA experience to Key Asia Pacific Role

HSINCHU, Taiwan, and SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 10, 2011 - Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced the appointment of Maggie Chen as country manager for the company's Taiwan operations. Chen reports to Charlie Shin, Magma’s vice president of Asia-Pacific Sales.

“Maggie brings a great combination of managerial and sales achievement and I expect her experience will help our Taiwan team achieve even greater success,” Chin said. "Taiwan is a key market for Magma and I anticipate that Maggie will contribute to our efforts here right away."

Chen’s experience includes 10 years with electronic design automation (EDA) companies, including a stint with Cadence Design Systems during which she exceeded quota for three consecutive years while managing a sales group. Before that she served as Taiwan country manager for Verplex Systems until its 2003 acquisition by Cadence. Most recently Chen served as Asia Pacific sales director and Taiwan country manager for EDA startupInPA Systems, where she established the company’s Taiwan operation and led the company’s expansion into mainland China.

Chen holds a degree from National Chung Hsing University in Taichung, Taiwan.
