For Immediate Release
NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Massachusetts artist, Sandra Mueller-Dick, in Portals of Perception. The exhibition is scheduled to run from June 30, 2011 through July 21, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, July 07, 2011).

About the Artist
Sandra Mueller-Dick is a painter of pure emotion. Transitioning easily between still-life, landscape, and abstraction the artist has a startling range of talents. Her approach, whether in oil, mixed media, or watercolor, features the gentle modeling of light coupled with an intense palette focusing on complementary colors and tactile brushwork. When beginning a new work, she decides upon a conceptual framework allowing it to evolve intuitively as layers of paint give form to an ethereal idea. "Whether it is a still life, landscape or floral, I try to imbue my subject with a sense of mood in the way I integrate color with shape." There is the unmistakable fingerprint of psychology within Mueller-Dick’s abstractions; they are passionate and volatile, fiery formations that evolve like a storm picking up speed and strength. These works display the true power of abstraction, its ability to speak to our consciousness without the need for metaphor or symbol.

Mueller-Dick lives in Brookline, Massachusetts and is a Gallery Instructor at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
