"Da Bruno Marbella Restaurants"

Da Bruno Marbella and San Pedro Restaurants open the Asparagus Month of 2010, for the whole of March throughout their restaurants in the Costa del Sol, Spain. The month will be filled with delightful, healthy asparagus recipes as part of Da Brunos continued healthy eating initiative.

Mouth-watering dishes such as White and Green Asparagus in Vinaigrette and Salmon Bombs or White Asparagus with Grilled Galician Veal Loin will be on the menu.

Da Bruno’s founders, Giuseppina and Bruno Filippone, have listened carefully to the feedback of their valued customers and the Asparagus Month is a direct result of this. They feel it is the perfect time to launch a series of healthy yet imaginative recipes some which will be honoured during periods such as the Asparagus Month and others which will take their proud place in their new menu.

During the Asparagus Month there will be a fabulous variety of asparagus dishes available to customers who are either visiting the Costa del Sol or live there.

Some of these dishes are:

White and Green Asparagus Risotto
White Asparagus with Parma Ham
Sauted Asparagus with Ham and Mushrooms
White and Green Asparagus in Vinaigrette and Salmon Bombs
White Asparagus with Grilled Galician Veal Loin
White Asparagus with Boiled New Potatoes and Hollandaise Sauce
White Asparagus Gratinated a la Parmigiana

Giuseppina, Bruno and their team pride themselves on inventive, delicious food which also has health benefits. They have chosen Asparagus as one of many examples of core healthy ingredients from their extensive menu, not only for its taste but in appreciation of its benefits.

Asparagus was written about in the 2nd century by the physician Galen as cleansing and healing. It contains substances which act as a diuretic, neutralize ammonia which makes us tired and also protects small blood vessels from rupturing.

Asparagus provides essential nutrients; taking for example six spears you can find 135 micrograms of folate, 20 milligrams of potassium and 545 micrograms of beta carotene. Asparagus which is green is a very good source of vitamin C. Low in calories also, asparagus contains no cholesterol and is very low in sodium. It contains vitamin B6, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, calcium, magnesium, zinc, thiamine, riboflavin, rutin, niacin, folic acid, iron, potassium, selenium, phosphorus, copper and manganese.

Asparagus can be served very simply steamed and accompanied with butter or olive oil and it lends itself to a range of gorgeous recipes.
