London - 6 July 2011. Since the launch of their website last year, online booking service Tick Tock Taxi has revolutionised the way we book minicabs. Now represented by over 40 partner cab offices around Central London, they offer cheap taxis throughout the city with quick booking and no hassle.
Tick Tock Taxi has brought booking minicabs into the 21st century; now you don’t even need to pick up the phone. The customer simply types in where they are (or their smart phone recognises their current location), and where they want to go. Instantly, a low quote, an estimated journey time and the distance is shown, and they click ‘Book taxi’. From Tick Tock Taxi’s database of partner cab offices, the nearest (therefore cheapest) minicab will send a text to confirm the booking. This whole process takes less than a couple of minutes, and because the system recognises returning customer’s details, it’s even more efficient.
Tiago Pita, the creator of Tick Tock Taxi, explains: “We’ve developed advanced geo-location tools to track our drivers, ensuring that we can provide the most reliable service to customers. And because we don't charge our partners or users for the booking, only for the dispatching software, it means that customers get the best deal in London from Tick Tock Taxi. I also decided to include credit card payments on the website, or customers can pay cash to their driver. We’re doing everything we can think of to keep things quick and easy.”
Although this online company is still young and has some fierce competition emerging, they are proving to be a success amongst Londoners. Ellie, a first time user of the service, said: “I found this website really easy to use, which makes a nice change! I needed to book a minicab to Gatwick airport, and the cab office called me a few minutes after I’d done it to confirm. Everything ran smoothly, nice driver too.”
