With trade and logistics continuing to play a key role in driving the economies of the Middle East, more and more attention is being paid to the whole business of materials handling, logistics, transport and communications, how it is run, the problems that impact its growth and effective solutions for any current bottlenecks.
With trade exhibition Materials Handling Middle East fast approaching, the high growth economies of the region are firmly in the spotlight for the entire gamut of the international materials handling and logistics industries. Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of the region’s only dedicated trade platform for the materials handling, logistics, supply chain and transport industries, has partnered with Europe’s largest logistics body – the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM), Frankfurt for one of its conferences. HOLM will lend their experience with organising international conferences bringing their expertise and in depth industry knowledge to the event.
“These industries are key engines that drive industrial and economic growth in the region,” said Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “With economic uncertainty still a pressing concern, cost saving is vitally important. Maximising efficiency within your operations helps to reduce costs and in the long term ensure continued success. During the conferences there will be numerous discussions and case presentations on how best to ensure you receive the maximum return on your investment with minimum life cycle costs. These conferences will help you position your business for success,” he added.
The conferences will run alongside Materials Handling Middle East 2011, which takes place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 25th to 27th. Day One will feature a CIPS Master Class dedicated to promoting good practice in the industry and supported by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply. Improvements in buying skills, reducing an organisation’s exposure to risk and managing sustainability issues will be amongst the topics covered during the master class.
‘Setting the Future in Motion’ Conference, co-organised with HOLM, is the theme for the conference on Day Two, Monday, 26th September. It is expected to be an intensive discussion on the world of logistics, specifically within the Middle East region. Delegates will learn about the future developments expected in the industry and will participate in panel discussions on the current rules and regulations that affect the industry, as well as the prospects of growth in the region. Also on the programme are presentations and workshops on warehouse management systems and warehouse design.
Professor Stefan Walter, Managing Director, HOLM which is a unique cooperation model among educational institutes, business practice and public administration, said: “We are delighted to be involved in the conferences for Materials Handling Middle East. With the rapidly evolving scenario in the Middle East the logistics industry needs to adapt. At the conference professionals will be kept up to date with the latest global best practice. Materials Handling is a great platform from which to reach out to the regional marketplace.”
‘Taking Logistics and Transport to a new level’, will be held on the last day of the three day event (Tuesday, September 27th) in co-operation with CILT and will feature a series of prominent speakers discussing the problems and current trends in the logistics, supply chain, airline and cargo industries in the region, the challenges ahead as well as ideas and tips to succeed in the business.
Mr. Alexander Borg, Regional Director and Co-ordinator, CILT – UAE, the leading professional body for logistics and transport, with over 33,000 members working in over 100 countries worldwide, said: “As we have been in the region for a number of years taking part in Materials Handling Middle East is crucial for us. We firmly believe in information, education and enhancement of skills with the aim to improve the industry standards and that by becoming involved in the conference meets our objectives as an organisation to improve standards in this specific industry. Our workshop will deal with some of the burning topics faced by professionals such as motivation and creating a safe work environment and maintaining the highest of standards within Logistics and Transport.” September will mark the 6th edition of Materials Handling Middle East – the region’s trade exhibition for logistics, supply chain, freight and cargo in terms of both products and services. The exhibition reflects the latest trends and developments within the logistics and materials handling industries and receives strong interest from manufacturers, suppliers, agencies and government institutions from across the region.
