Although there are no strict classical rules to web design websites it should aim to reach the audience targeted and in manner that is cleat and to the point.
As a designer it is understandable that you may want to push the envelope of new styles and techniques. While there is nothing wrong with being original, be careful to stay within the confines of the project at hand. Displaying your creative talent will have its time and place, not all sites require the same need to be artistic.
Content- Creating well research and original content for your site is essential for its success. Content that is relative to the topic you are covering and well composed will bring your site to the forefront. Be cautious of overloading the site with unnecessary content that is poor in quality and high in quantity.
Coding- Maximizing the use of CSS and HTML will ensure your coding is clear and concise if done correctly. The more important headlines and titles should be placed high up in the order of the HTML code whenever possible.
Conduct keyword research and begin SEO - Research the industry and the competitors to compile a list of keyword traffic that is most common for your particular website’s market. Be realistic about the keywords you target, try not to be general and narrow down your keyword to be more specific to your area and market. Attempting to be the highest ranked company when for instance you type “furniture” could lead to an extremely costly and futile ending. Originality and uniqueness are qualities which exude what a top web designer is capable of creating.
Link Building- A good link should the potential of delivering relevant visitors in your target audience. Is is recommended that you place your site on a directory such as Yahoo or Google. This can be an expensive proposition for some companies and may not even be feasible. Solid and relevant content with good links will attract more users and more specifically interested users.
