VARANASI : The week long lecture series in Leading Business School of the country, School of Management Sciences (SMS) concluded recently. In the week long programme intellectuals from different parts of the country and abroad enlightened the students on different aspects of management. The special occasion was the visit of Prof. H. S. Grewal, Dean, School of Business, Clafflin University, USA to initiate the procedure for selection of five students under the academic agreement of SMS with Clafflin University, USA. It is imperative to mention here that in the month of August an academic agreement was signed between SMS and Clafflin University and both institutions agreed to exchange five of their students to get a better insight about academic environment. Other aspects of academic cooperation were also signed. The key speaker of the lecture series Prof. Harpal Singh Grewal from Clafflin University, USA discussed the strategic relations between India and America. He said that India and USA are two big democracies of the world and the key to their success lies in mutual cooperation.

Further Prof. Grewal discussed with the students the present system of management education in USA. He also discussed the academic agreement between SMS and Clafflin University. In the first two days of lecture series Prof. Anup Singh, Post Doctorate from Michigan University and presently Senior Professor in prestigious International Management Institute discussed the various aspects of organisational behaviour and its relevance in present corporate scenario.Prof. Anup Singh, in his deliberations, emphasised on the emotional intelligence quotient as an important aspect in managing organisations. He also said that as a Manager it is important to inculcate positive vibes and high level of energy in the employees. This requires empathy, interpersonal skills, positive attitude, continuous learning, developing networks, self reflection and consistent improvement. Krishnnaiya, Director, NIC, New Delhi said that e-governance through technological innovation is the key to success for any organisation. In the era where a paradigm shift is seen from administration to governance the role of technology can not be undermined. Mr. Sunil Keshwani, Managing Director, E T Services, New Delhi said that good communication and presentation skills play a pivotal role in shaping one's career in the corporate. It has become the essence of management and exploring the horizons of corporate communication is essential. In the following two days Prof. Ashok Pratap Arora from prestigious MDI, Gurgaon discussed the emerging trends in marketing. Prof. Arora said that trends do not happen randomly hence
it is imperative to develop an insight about exchange and its role in marketing. Prof. Arora also discussed the evolution and gradual development of marketing and enlightened the students on the recent changes in customer relationship management, green marketing, cloud computing, social responsibility of business and the concept of marketing factories. On the occasion, Mr. C. V. Singh, Vice President, TATA Daewoo, South Korea, said that integration of culture and management are the key forces behind any successful business acquisition. He also said that organisations should focus on enterprise development and process improvements. Speaking on the occasion Dr. B. P. Singh, Ex. Head & Dean, Delhi School of Economics said that managing human resource is very crucial in today's culturally diversified and complex organisations. Earlier welcoming the intellectuals in the inaugural function of the lecture series Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS said that SMS is always committed towards conducting such academic
discussions. He further said that management is a diverse discipline and such anacademic
discussion provide value to the students. The well established authorities in the respective
disciplines help the student to develop management insight and sharpen their business acumen. On the occasion Convenor & Associate Professor, Dr. Amit Gautam gave the vote of thanks and said that SMS is always looking forward to conduct such academic discourses and expected their continued association with the institution in future. Dr. Amit Gautam further thank Prof. Grewal for initiating the selection of five students for student exchange programme to Clafflin University, USA. In the inaugural function Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Registrar, SMS and faculty members were also present. The programme was anchored by Dr. G.B.S. Johri, Senior Lecturer, SMS.
