Tampa, Florida, As an - Silent Partners Technologies has developed a wander management system which is raising the quality of life for seniors and disabled individuals residing in assisted living facilities. The product is named WanderTrack and it enables the residents to enjoy more freedom both inside and outside the facility by wearing a small tracking device which sends a signal to a monitoring station if the patient wanders off the property or walks into a restricted area.

WanderTrack helps assisted living and extended care managers take extra precautions to ensure their residents with dementia and other mental health issues do not wander away from the facility. The wander prevention system employs a simple, easy to learn and user-friendly wandering management and resident tracking system which is programmable and expandable so it works well in almost any environment.

The key features and components of the technology are:

• Choice of personal transmitter including Intelligent Clothing
• Door access control and monitoring
• Wandering management
• Outdoor coverage
• Remote or personal alarm
• Console center for monitoring
• Personalized access and egress rights per profile
• Resident Tracking
• Low power usage for secure and long term usage
• Integrates with various wired and wireless networks for cost effective expandability
• Low cost starter package

WanderTrack requires each patient in the program to wear a tag with an embedded microchip which can be sewn or clipped onto clothing, worn around the neck or as a wristband. The chips can even be embedded into clothing so that they are harder to remove. The chips can be programmed to go off when a resident crosses a certain threshold.
Interrogators, or readers, are installed at the entrances and exits, and in any interior areas that need to be controlled. When the tag is detected leaving its permitted area, staff are alerted to the situation and can take immediate action. The chips can also be programmed for each individual resident simply by adding more software to the system.

By adding a suite of software, tags and interrogators can be programmed to more fully personalize each patient’s permitted areas, include other dynamic data, and more actions can be taken by the system, such as the locking of doors when there is an alert. Managers can also choose to have staff notified by email or text message. The needs of each facility may be different, and this modular, expandable system is easily customizable to match whatever those needs might be.
