MicroWorks, Inc. Announces Launch of SmartDongle II. New Firmware Upgrade

Revolutionary security method protects software and personal information from pirates and hackers. Now updated with enhanced security features for even greater protection.
Boise, ID, United States of America (prbd.net) 01/04/2012
Boise, ID - MicroWorks, Inc has announced their new USB security dongle called the SmartDongle II. This new software security device provides software security for any product and comes with an updated firmware version which greatly enhances the original SmartDongle. The SmartDongle II was created to provide superior protection against piracy and unauthorized use of applications or personal data for all companies regardless of size at an affordable price.

MicroWorks says the new USB security dongle is easy to use, hard to break or impossible to hack and can be easily accessed by the beneficiary’s program.

"As we have seen from past security breaches in our industry, hackers are capable of cracking even the newest security devices. With our new upgraded firmware which is in the SmartDongle II, it would take 1 trillion computer processors working in parallel 4.5 billion years to break our code by brute force. Having such a strong algorithm means that pirates will look elsewhere for weaker targets," says Joel Gyllenskog, President of MicroWorks.

The SmartDongle II is a versatile device which uses open source security.

“By using open source in our firmware, the security does not come from smoke and mirrors, it comes from robust algorithms,” Says Joel.

Once opened, the dongle can be written to and read from as necessary to protect your application. To further increase security, the application can encrypt the data being sent to the dongle to prevent a potential hacker from seeing the data on the USB bus before it is written. The SmartDongle II security key is unique, using two 64 bit keys. Each customer is assigned a key set for their use, but can request additional security keys as the need arises. Using the SmartDongle II allows software writers to control the features each customer can access in a manner that is straight forward and easy to manage.

Using the unique security keys, a SmartDongle USB can be easily accessed. The program can simply check for the presence of a valid SmartDongle or can use the available SmartDongle user memory to keep passwords, user names, licensing data and much more.

With such powerful features, SmartDongle II is a must have for anyone interested in protecting their software or personal data. Many programming languages are currently supported. Anything that can load an external library can be supported by SmartDongle II.

Software developers, IT managers, Chief Technology Officers, Chief Operational Officers and anyone else interested are invited to take a look at this revolutionary security protection by visiting http://www.smartdongle.com.
