Help Studio1c Support Homeless VeteransFeatured PR

Please help this worthy cause to assist those Homeless Veterans, who, for whatever reason, need a warm place to stay, a healthy meal, psychological counselling and aid they need to get back on their feet and rightfully hold their heads up high again.

Studio1c is partnering with the Homeless Veterans Base Camp, Inc., which houses veterans of all branches of military services, assists them in securing employment, and provides counselling on an as needed basis, both professional and peer group.

We have provided a simple means to donate for the cause of homeless veterans. Once at the site, please find the green "donate" button in the top right (it looks like the one above). You have the option of selecting the dollar amount you feel comfortable with and contribute anonymously, in someone elses name or in your name. All contributions are tax deductible. You also have the option to use Credit, Debit or your PayPal account to donate for the cause, join the fund-raising community and help increase funds for the cause by inviting friends to donate for the cause too.

Homeless Veteran Statistics
While the causes for homelessness among veterans are too many, the statistics are staggering. The US Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 131,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. Almost twice that many experience homelessness over the course of a year. It is also estimated that one out of every three homeless men who sleep in a doorway, alley or box in our cities and rural communities has put on a uniform and served this country.

A few more glaring statistics:
• 23% of homeless population are veterans
• 33% of male homeless population are veterans
• 47% Vietnam Era
• 17% post-Vietnam
• 15% pre-Vietnam
• 67% served three or more years
• 33% stationed in war zone
• 25% have used VA Homeless Services
• 85% completed high school/GED, compared to 56% of non-veterans
• 89% received Honourable Discharge
• 79% reside in central cities
• 16% reside in suburban areas
• 5% reside in rural areas
• 76% experience alcohol, drug, or mental health problems
• 46% white males compared to 34% non-veterans
• 46% age 45 or older compared to 20% non-veterans

We want to help the courageous men and women who have fought for this country. We hope that you'll join us in this effort by contributing on the website, we have developed for this initiative, and pay tribute to American vets by donating to this important cause.

The most common problems faced by veterans include, severe shortage of affordable housing, livable income and access to health care facilities. Apart from this, homeless veterans are also battling drug and alcohol abuse problems, and physical and mental illnesses. The most glaring problem, which has resulted in their present homeless condition, is the lack of adequate family and social support. Studio1c is keen to raise the maximum amount of funds through this project and hopes to help homeless veterans regain strength and dignity to return to their productive lives.
