"dance sneakers, tap shoes"

There are an incredible number of different types of dancing shoes and it is extremely important to choose the right ones depending on the type of dance that you will be undertaking.

Let's Dance!

Everybody loves to dance, whether it be with the company of someone or on your own in your bedroom. A great way of relaxing and expressing yourself, it is defined as a series of co-ordinated movements enacted by an individual, usually accompanied by rhythmic music and it is viewed both as an art form but also a sport. Perhaps rather strangely it can be used in non-verbal communication between humans and this has also been seen in some types of animal.

We use our feet for dancing and so this is, obviously you may say, why dancing shoes were invented. Varying types of dancing shoes have been invented over the years to cater for different types of dances. Just a couple of examples are dancing shoes made especially for tango and also swing shoes which are used commonly in step and ballroom dancing.

Which shoes do I need?

It is crucial for dancers, whether they are professional or casual, to choose the right dancing shoes in order to perform best. You need first to decide and understand which type of dance you would be using the shoes for, as dancing shoes are usually made for a specific type of dancing like ballet, jazz, tap or folk dancing.

Imagine wearing tap dancing shoes for ballet or the other way around, it just wouldn't work. The next thing to think about is whether they are comfortable. It is all well and good having the right dancing shoes for the right type of dance, but if they are rubbing and cutting into your feet while you sail around the dance floor, it is unlikely to be very enjoyable for you. Fit the shoes first before buying them and make sure they are comfortable – many people have incurred foot injuries from wearing shoes that are unsuitable for the feet. They need to be of the right size and shape for your feet.

So you have found the perfect shoes you may think. They fit well, they look great and they're just the thing for you to hit the dance floor with. But are they worth the price? If they're not then don't buy them. You can more often than enough find another pair which is more affordable yet has the same factors as the expensive pair. A popular brand for example will have a high price tag – a part of the shoe's price goes to the name of the brand and so that shoe will be more expensive even though they may be nearly identical to a cheaper shoe with a less well known brand.

These are the most important factors when it comes to purchasing your shoes. Is the shoe right for the type of dance? Do they fit correctly? Can you afford them? Choosing the right dancing shoes will make you a better dancer and you will have much more fun. There are many online stores from which you can purchase you perfect dancing shoes.
