Garden City, NY (March 08, 2011) -- The Board of Trustees of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (CCFA), Long Island Chapter, has announced that Hewlett Harbor resident, Howard S. Fensterman, Managing Partner of Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Greenberg, Formato and Einiger, LLP (Abrams Fensterman) has been named the organization’s 2011 Man of the Year

Mr. Fensterman will accept the award at “Laugh ‘till It Stops Hurting”, the Chapter’s annual Spring Comedy Dinner, featuring Joan Rivers. The event will take place Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Glen Oaks Country Club, Old Westbury.

The Long Island Chapter of CCFA provides services to the estimated 30,000 Long Islanders who suffer from Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis through education and outreach support. CCFA’s mission is raising funds to support research toward a cure. The Chapter is led by Executive Director, Edda Ramsdell and Board President, Mitchell A. Carron.

CCFA is among the top-rated charities in the American Institute of Philanthropy’s Charity Rating Guide.

“I am honored to be recognized for my almost two decades of service as a member of the Long Island Chapter’s Board of Trustees,” says Howard Fensterman. “Of greater importance though, is the tremendous opportunity the Man-of-the-Year Award provides me to help raise awareness of and funds for this truly horrible disease.”

Zachary Jaffe, a resident of Merrick, Long Island, will receive the Children’s Legacy Award at the dinner. Zach was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease six years ago, at age 12.

From the beginning, Zach and his parents, Melissa and Michael Jaffe, became active in CCFA. Zach is an active Chapter volunteer and youth leader and volunteers in the Chapter office and at events such as CCFA’s annual golf outing. His parents were the 2010 Research Alliance Chairs.

Robert Fensterman, Howard’s brother and Founding and Executive Partner of Abrams Fensterman, is serving as the dinner’s event chairman. The event is supported by a Commermorative Journal, Chaired by Steven J. Eisman, Senior Patner, Abrams Fensterman, and C0-Chaired by James A. Pappas, Jake Watral and Peter Cosentino.

Abrams Fensterman is a full-service law firm with offices in Lake Success, New York City and Rochester, New York. The firm also serves clients in New Jersey. The firm is structured to provide sophisticated legal representation across a range of practice areas.
