Exton, PA – September 10, 2008 – BT today announced that its Global Services unit has been positioned in the "leaders" quadrant in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Managed and Professional Network Service Providers, Worldwide1. This achievement follows BT's placement in the challengers quadrant in the highly competitive North American market2. Both reports may be accessed at http://www.btglobalservices.com/business/global/en/index.html

Gartner's Magic Quadrant for managed and professional service vendors worldwide is "a guide for midsize and large companies to identify and evaluate vendors that deliver IT services in support of connectivity and communications infrastructure"

In its worldwide report, Gartner evaluated 14 vendors. Gartner said that Leaders are affecting the competition by "enabling technology and IT service offerings; their focus on the enterprise and targeted industry segments; and their capability to differentiate on value, price and service levels to be first to market with relevant products."

Gartner added that Leaders "are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are building competencies to sustain their leadership positions in the market. Vendor and customer experience weigh heavily in the Leaders' quadrant. All these vendors have demonstrated that they have significant network management and outsourcing experience and understand the dynamics needed to deliver network-centric IT services successfully."

The networked IT services considered in these Magic Quadrants include network management, network maintenance, network development and integration, network and telecom expense management and network consulting.

For North America, Gartner evaluated 18 vendors of IT services for business communications systems. Vendors were evaluated on both completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Michael Boustridge, President, BT Americas, said, "We see Gartner's placement of BT in the Leaders Quadrant as further validation that BT has the global scope and vision to provide multinational enterprises with the services they need to succeed in today's global economy. We are also very pleased with our placement in the Challengers Quadrant in the North American market, which we see as a testimony to how our strong and growing presence in the Americas positions us to better serve the global needs of U.S. and Canada-based multinationals, as well as the American needs of large companies around the world."

Worldwide, BT Global Services provides a range of specialist network-centric propositions and practices spanning high performance networking, applications management, outsourcing and managed services, and business transformation. BT Global Services employs more than 30,000 people in 70 countries and delivers services in 170 countries. BT serves more than 10,000 corporate customers across the globe and has served more than 75 percent of Fortune 500 enterprises and more than half of the Fortune 1000 companies.

North America is a key market for BT, where it has had a continuous presence for more than 20 years serving global enterprises, and currently employs 4,300 employees in 70 cities. BT generates approximately $1.7 billion per year in revenues from the region and serves more than 1,000 customers in the U.S. and Canada.
