A new study from IMARC Group expects the total shipment volume of smart cards in E-Governance projects to reach 372 Million by 2016.
Noida, Uttar pardesh, India (prbd.net) 05/01/2012
In order to make its citizen services transparent, cost effective, efficient, timely and hassle free; the Indian government decided to integrate the benefits of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in its services through E-Governance. The Government of India had initiated its E-Governance programme in the late 1990s. Later in May 2006, the Union Government approved the National E-Governance Plan (NeGP), comprising of 27 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) and 8 components to give a boost to E-Governance initiatives in India.

A new study from IMARC Group entitled “Indian Smart Cards Market Report & Forecast 2011-2016” finds that E-Governance initiatives by the central and state governments are expected to create huge opportunities for the Indian smart cards industry.
