Extreme Clean Construction, Inc. parent company of www.waterdamage.com has received Lead Certification status from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) per letter from EPA date May 26, 2010 which states, “Thank you for applying to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for certification to conduct Renovation, Repair and Painting Activities in target housing and child-occupied facilities. I am pleased to inform you that, pursuant to 40 CFR Part 745, Subpart E, your renovation, repair and painting firm is certified!”

An EPA rule that went into effect June 08, 2010 requires contractors who perform work in homes and other buildings built before 1978 be trained and certified on how to properly handle lead paint during construction and repair projects. This is an important safety issue for construction workers and for others, especially children and pregnant women, who might be exposed to lead paint dust during building and repair work. Contractors who are not certified can be fined up to $37,500 per construction day. Essentially, this now means that anyone other than the owner/occupant of a single family home is subject to the RRP Rules.

The EPA states that the purpose of such certification exists for the following reasons:
• Training and certification requirements to ensure the proficiency of contractors who offer to conduct lead-based paint inspection, risk assessment and abatement services in residences and day care centers
• Accreditation requirements to ensure that training programs provide quality instruction in current and effective work practices
• Work practice standards to ensure that lead-based paint activities are conducted safely, reliably and effectively
